Holland Casino Amsterdam Poker Room Review of Holland

Hey guys, I'll be in Amsterdam for the next few months (exchange student) and am planning to join a poker tournament (€30 buy in, 40 seats, unlimited rebuys + add on) tomorrow. I have never stepped into a casino before. Few questions:

Am I supposed to tip the dealer and how/when do I do it
Should I take notes on the hands I play if I want to improve
How do I avoid giving away live tells
What is the optimal percentage of hands I should play
How many times should I rebuy
Any other tips for a first timer

The World Poker Tour continues in Europe and one of the most exciting tournaments of May will take place in the Netherlands, with Holland Casino acting as a gracious host. This is only the first event to be hosted in partnership with the aforesaid casino, but it promises to be a huge success as some of the best players, including Sky Poker members have announced their participation. This is just one of the stops of the WPT, with the opening event being already sold-out as hundreds of players found it worthwhile paying €330 for a chance to participate. The highlight of this competition is the main event scheduled for May 11, with players being expected to spend €3300 out-of-pocket. This is a prohibitive amount for regular poker fans, but a highroller will find it more than reasonable and that's why the guaranteed prize pool is expected to be exceeded. The main event will have two starting days and participants will have the chance to reentry ones, if they happen to go bust early on. Past performance suggests that when players are offered this option, they usually take it, so the estimated prizes could go higher. Contrary to popular belief, this is not the most expensive tournament that players can attend while in Amsterdam, because the highroller competition will set players back €6000. The advantage of participating in this event is that players start with a deep stack and have unlimited reentries until the start of the second day. Jussi Nevanlinna wins the 2015 Master Classics of Poker

Holland Casino in Amsterdam has a reputation of hosting many poker tournaments, but most of them pale in comparison with the 2015 Master Classics of Poker. This edition exceeded expectations and brought together more players and previous events, so the 2016 tournament should be even better. There were plenty of Dutch people at the tables, but also Europeans and even Americans who for one reason or the other found themselves in the capital city. It wasn't easy to book a seat at the final table and action heated up around the bubble stage when players decided to shift into passive mode. This was the time when Kees van Brugge and Jussi Nevanlinna took advantage of the situation and managed to increase their stacks considerably. Risk-averse players had little to gain and many of them made the final table with tiny steps and were eliminated in a relatively quick succession before just 71 left in the race. Joep van den Bijgaart was the first on the Dutch finalist to be eliminated but he won €46,000 and the stage was set for a tough confrontation. Kees van Brugge lost several hands quickly and was down to know more than 4 big blinds, but managed to turn the ship around. He achieved extraordinary things with his dwindling stack and outlasting two more players, to finish in the fourth place and take home €81,000. It took a long time for Donald Rae to finally throw in the towel but he had good reasons to keep fighting until the bitter end. For his efforts, he collected €100,000 and immediately after the heads-up began and it was a pretty short affair. The two players shoved all their chips with an ace and a high card, but Nevanlinna started as a narrow favorites and he managed to maintain his advantage. After the final table was dealt, the player from Finland was the only one standing and he won the very round prize of €300,000.
